Railcare Health, a medical and dental nonprofit based in the Chapel Hill area, is excited to be searching for a dedicated Medical Director to lead our team to success while striving to provide the safest patient care to every community we meet. The Medical Director will primarily be responsible for providing guidance on medical practice for our Medical Assistants and Provider Staff [MD/DO/PA/NP] while updating our protocols/SOPs/and emergency plans of the mobile health clinic. DUTIES: - Provide medical direction and oversight to the entire medical team, ensuring adherence to established protocols and guidelines to protect patient safety. - Provide training outlines and mentoring, in conjunction with the training department, to volunteer medical assistants and nurses. - Review patient charts to confirm diagnoses and treatment plans, ensuring all actively volunteering providers are practicing to the highest standard of medical care and knowledge. - Collaborate with clinic managers and admin staff on day-to-day operations and quality assurance. - Serve as lead physician liaising with partner healthcare facilities when required (most communication will be handled administratively). - Expand current capabilities to allow for prescription writing, laboratory equipment/testing, and supply ordering - under your medical discretion and conversation with providing team. REQUIREMENTS: - M.D. (Medical Doctor) or D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine), preference to primary/family/general/emergency medicine, but open to all specialties. - Current and active Medical License in good standing in North Carolina, USA - Request 1+ year tenure with Railcare Health, weekly hours varying but averaged 5-10 hrs. - Previous experience in a nonprofit or community health setting, or willingness to learn, is a plus. - Google Workspace (Gmail, Meet, etc.). - Willingness to undergo drug and background screening. The Medical Operations committee of Railcare Health is looking for new members to execute and develop the organization’s current clinical projects. These projects predominantly include Primary Care and Screening/Preventative Medicine Clinics focused in various counties across North Carolina. Railcare Health is seeking new members to additionally develop their own clinical projects with a diverse team led by the Medical Operations Director. Project innovation includes identifying target communities, strategizing care models, and facilitating new clinic events with the resources and community partners affiliated with Railcare Health. DUTIES: - Attend Operations team and General Body meetings, actively participating and providing valuable updates to the entire team. - Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to cultivate partnerships that enhance patient experiences, expand current projects, and drive future medical operations. - Manage and oversee special projects that utilize our mobile clinics, aligning with the organization's mission and meeting community needs. - Design and implement reproducible clinic events and projects, leveraging team dynamics, community partners, community needs, and available resources. This includes adhering to the supervision and guidance of the Director of Medical Operations and Railcare Health's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). - Ensure the maintenance, inventory management, cleanliness, and overall appearance of the mobile clinics, adhering to established protocols and standards. - Conduct ongoing research on community health needs, staying informed about advancements in the field, and proposing relevant improvements to Railcare Health's practice model. - Demonstrate the ability to volunteer and provide support during clinic events up to 2 hours away based on Railcare Health's provided training, whether as a Health Educator or Medical Assistant. - Conduct health education sessions and workshops for community members, focusing on topics such as preventive care, nutrition, mental health, chronic disease management, healthy lifestyles, CPR/First Aid, Naloxone Administration, and Stop The Bleed initiatives. - Develop educational materials, resources, and presentations to support health education sessions. - Tailor health education content to meet the specific needs and cultural backgrounds of diverse populations. REQUIREMENTS: - Undergraduate/graduate student or experienced professional in fields related to medicine, health sciences, public health, or science (preferred). - Experience in partnership communication and medical event planning. - Basic knowledge of the U.S. community health system, or willingness to learn, and medical practice. - Google Workspace (Gmail, Meet, etc.) - 1-year minimum commitment - Willingness to undergo drug and background screening BENEFITS: - FREE training available through Railcare Health instructors for Health Educator or Medical Assistant positions. - Direct patient care hours for pre-health students accompanied with experience in the non-profit community health sector. - Ability to make a difference in your communities and improve community health. - Opportunity to expand current skills in project management, community/public health, operations or other expertise areas. - Letters of recommendation available.
